Mrs. Kern
I was born and raised in Shillington, PA and had the privilege of living right beside my grandparents for most of my early life. I came to know Jesus as my savior at the young age of six and when I was twelve I was baptized as a sign of my commitment to the Lord. I am the oldest of my family and, unfortunately or fortunately for my siblings, I insisted on them sitting as students in my pretend classroom with me as their teacher ever since I can remember.
I graduated from Millersville University and received a B.S. in both elementary and special education and later an M.S. in elementary education. I have been in the education field for over 45 years. Over those years I have taught in grades 1 through grade 8 and developed the program for and taught in a resource room for 8 years.
As you can see, I am passionate about teaching and have taught hundreds of students throughout my career. I am now privileged to be the principal of HCA, where I work together with an amazing staff of teachers and administrators. My heart’s desire is to see the lives of students impacted and changed not only academically but emotionally and spiritually as they discover the message of the Bible and turn to Jesus as their lord and savior.
As for hobbies, I love to read and spend time with my family, friends, and my dog and pet chickens. Some favorite verses of mine are found in Ephesians 3:20, 21 which say: “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” I have seen God do amazing things and I look forward to all that He has planned for His school, Hershey Christian Academy.
