Mr. Dykes

I am privileged to be the Bible Teacher for grades 6-12, sharing HCA’s passion to nurture in every student a love for the Lord, as well as to ground them in the Bible, and help them to think and live out a biblical worldview.  I am also the onsite Biblical Counselor, with many years of experience in counseling those struggling with depression, anxiety, pornography, anger, assurance, and much besides.

I’ve been married to Ashley for 15 years, and we have a son and daughter at HCA. Although born and raised in Scotland, I earned my first master’s degree in Wales, then ministered to young people in inner-city London, before earning my second master’s degree (MDiv.) in Greenville SC, before spending the last 12+ years as a pastor – four years in Wales and eight years in America. I’m passionate about the Gospel, family, history, “soccer”, chocolate, and walking my dog, Moby Dykes.  

A verse to which I cling: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost” (1 Timothy 1:15).
